CATHOLICS AND CULTURE SPEAKER SERIES, “The Bible and Culture: Biblical Spirituality” - Dr. Stephen Miletic, professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, is the presenter. Spirituality is a personal encounter with God. How can you have a subjective experience of an objective reality? What is Biblical Spirituality? This lecture examines the Interior, Religious, and Spiritual Life and how this life interacts with the culture. Holy Trinity Parish in McKees Rocks is hosting this series. This program is on Monday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge, but donations are greatly appreciated to help defray the cost to the parish.
The Christian Mothers of Our Lady of Peace Church are sponsoring a DAY OF REFLECTION on Saturday, September 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Spirituality Center in Baden. Sr. Donna M. Tahaney will lead the participants on this Day of Reflection: Truly Our Sisters, guiding them to explore the relations of women of the Bible in our everyday lives. ATTEND YOUNG AT HEART 2010, Support Benevolent Care at Villa St. Joseph This gala fund-raising event will be held on Friday, September 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse in Baden. This event features a cocktail reception, catered dinner, live and silent auctions, and the presentation of the Partner in Caring award. This year’s recipient will be Ginny Simmons of Sewickley. The special guest speaker is the Most Rev. David A. Zubik. Mike Clark, WTAE-TV News Anchor, is master of ceremonies. Tickets for Young at Heart are $125/person. Tables of 8 are $1,000. Rachel’s Vineyard is offering a 14-week POST ABORTION SUPPORT GROUP for anyone in need of healing from dealing with the aftermath of an abortion. Relationships That Work: Family Systems Theory for Clergy and Group Leaders is an 8-session class for persons looking to enhance their effectiveness in managing the relationship challenges common to parish life. Classes will meet on the first Friday afternoon of each month from October 1, 2010, through May 6, 2011, at St. Paul Seminary and will provide diocesan continuing education credits.
